The water heater is about 14 years old and seems to work fine. There are no obvious leaks, rust stains and plenty of hot water. But the water where I live is very hard and I’ve heard the average life on a heater is about 10 years. I don’t like to wait for emergencies to happen on the other hand there isn’t any point in replacing something that is working.

I bought a a ceramic heater but it doesn’t seem to work all that great. I have it in my living room, about 300-400 sf I would guess. I can only feel the heat when I put my hand directly in front of it. Im trying to save $$ by using this instead of the gas furnace. Does anyone know of a good energy efficient heater?

autocirc pump under one of the sinks. a good idea? no room anywhere else for water heater and all pipes and water heater are insulated.

I am trying to save money, so I turn my water heater, located in my garage to vacation when I am not needing it, especially at night. Why do I have hot water when I run the faucet in the morning ?
