I have a 5 gallon tank with one goldfish in it. When the winter months come my room gets EXTREMELY COLD and I think my goldfish would benifit from a heater. I am asking this question now because there is a sale at my local fish store. What brands andf how many watts would you recomend.
The 5 gallon home is only temporary and I will be upgrading soon ( It is a fancy goldfish)

How strong of a heater should I use for a 5 gallon tank?

I’m getting a 5 gallon tank for a betta fish, and I’m looking for a heater. How strong should the heater be? Everything seems like it’s supposed to be used for a much smaller or much larger tank than what I’m getting.

andreak1013 asked:

I have a 5 gallon aquarium and would like to add a 50 watt heater for the winter, as temperatures are already starting to drop. However, I already have my three fish in it. Is it safe to add a heater while fish are in the aquarium, and does anybody have any tips on how I might go about it??

Thank you!
Sorry! They’re danios. Definitely tropical fish.
