Can you set the temperature and just leave the room? Also what does BTU mean. The heater I am looking at is ranked at 4,500 BTU heat output. Thanks a lot for any help.

A BTU is a british thermal unit
4500 of these brittish thermal units come at ya all at once and BOOM instant brittish warmth!
How cool is that? The thermostat is located next to the heat element
has a cupla wires goin to it
it is made of 2 diff metals that oppose each other at a given temp and are used to open and break circuits.
what it does is shut down when its satisfied, kinda like me,,where was I?oh yeah others have mercury gas bulb that shuts down the gas when it gets too warm.mercury when heated expands and pushes.
hook it to a switch and bada bink bada boom .

A BTU is a british thermal unit and 4500 btu’s is the equivilant of a 1320 W heater. Not very large ok to help top up a room where the furnace might not be able too. The built in thermostat is most likely connected to a bulb filled with liquid/gas, this bulb has a set preassure at a set temperature. If the temperature drops the preassure drops, this controls the heat on/off cycles.
