Is there any benefit to turning on the heater when my car overheats?

I was always told when the heater is on in my car, it will help my car from overheating. Is this true?

yes it draws the heat away from your radiator so you have less chance of overheating

no nothing at all

Yes, for a short term solution if your car is beginning to overheat. The heater allows an outlet for all the heat to escape. If your car actually overheats, however, you need to turn it off immediately or you risk damaging the motor.

A heater core is just another small engine coolant radiator like the big radiator at the front of your car. Therefore, it helps cool the engine just like the main radiator does. However, the main radiator normally cools much more because of it’s size and exposure to the outside air rushing past it.

not much,it does remove heat but very minimal amount..its far better to shut the car off

When my car starts to run really hot, I run the heater full blast & let the vents blow all that hot air out. Watch the temperature gauges…they should go down some. It can take some of the heat off the engine, just enough, perhaps, to get you to the next full service gas station without overheating entirely! It could be just a thermostat or coolant leak, but car problems never seem to be minor or cheap, as you no doubt already know.

Yes, while it may be sometimes hard to sense , putting the heater on full blast will help to lower your engines tempurature, but that doesn’t mean it wont overheat

the main benefit is if your car overheats and say loses the water from the engine, the heater matrix is the first thing that cools down, thus when driving if your heaters suddenly get cold your seconds away from siezing your engine.,
