Our home has an oil hot water heater should we keep it or switch to an electric water heater?

We are concerned with the cost of heating oil but want to be enviromentally friendly also. Which type of water heater is the most efficient electric or oil?

I’d go with gas! Cheapest to operate over it’s life! A solar heater ahead of the energy eater with help tremendously with keeping your bills low! Best to you! ;-)=

Gas is more efficient

If you have a gas line available I would recommend that one first as it will save you the most money based on past prices on natural gas. The prices of natural gas are increasing, but so are the prices of electricity. If gas is not available I would definitely switch to electric but you may want to look more into a tankless system as it is the latest innovation many reputable builders have adopted.

I suggest you change it to electric or natural gas ,the reason is that oil burners are only 88% persent fuel efficient. Electric and natural gas 100%efficient.

All good wisdom.
A high E electric or gas heater is the way to go.
Thinking of going to an “on demand’ water heater when the gas (tank type) I now have gives out.
Another consideration is that with oil or electric you are out of luck in a power failure.
A gas heater w/ a standing pilot flame will still work .
