The heater stopped working all the sudden and a couple of days after that, I noticed my car was leaking large quantities of coolant, but it wasn’t leaking from the radiator or the reserve tank. It was coming out near the firewall on passenger side. It looks as though a hose should be connected there, but I can’t tell.

I don’t know what you car exactly looks like, but there should be two hoses. One that delivers the coolant, and the other lets it out. If your car is leaking that bad, and you are not sure where the hoses go or if they are attatched, i suggest having someone look at it. Maybe one of your friends knows a little bit about cars? If not i would tow it to a shop and have them fix it. Without a hose connected, any amount of run time on the engine could spell disaster.

Get to your local repair shop and have the mechanic perform a pressure test to the cooling system….a pressure tester will force extreme pressure through the cooling system and will show where the leak is…..a failproof method to find cooling leaks…..when was the last time you changed the hoses anyway on this car????
