I have 2 vehicles and they both have the same problem all of a sudden. My 2001 Olds. Alero heater/AC fan only works on the last 2 settings. Now my Dodge Grand Caravan is doing the same thing, but it only works on the last or high setting. Please let me know if this is serious to fix and if it will cause any other problems. Thanks.

Most likely the heater fan switch went bad. I don’t consider it a serious problem, especially since high still works. It in itself will not cause other problems, except possibly getting you too warm. But that problem can be solved by either turning off the fan or opening the window. It it is still bothering you, replace the switch.

You need either that fan switch or the fan switch relay. Take them to a mechanic, he can find out, they aren’t expensive, probably less than 80 bucks to fix

Change the in cab filter it is probly plugging up and it won’t push air unless it is on high.It should be under the dash and behind the glovebox.

Heater fan switch went bad. If you would have said it works on all speeds but high/blower, I would have said, check the rheastat (mounted on the firewall passenger’s side) or replace blower motor. But you didn’t. AC/Fan high side switch went bad.

check out the blower motor resistor. these are usually mounted on the air duct plenum. refer to ur manual for specific location as i have not worked on these two particular vehicles.

on a dodge u have a reistat under the dash it has a high side and a low side it is held in by 2 screws fine thin and look at it the low side controls the 1,2,3 on your fan the high side is only for the highest speed on your fan motor. If you replace the reistat and it goes out in about 3 days it is your fan motor that causes the low side to go out.hope this helps.I had the same thing in my dodge 1999.I bought 3 reistats before i got help.

If the fan is not working properly, it’s a switch issue. It it just isn’t hot enough, you may have a plugged heater core.
