ie, fan heater? oil heater? radiant heater? or something else?

It is the induction heater. There is no filament to burn. It is a coil of fine wires but without using the resistance of the wire for heating up. Check it out in your local store.

For equal heat output, they all cost exactly the same to operate. All of them.
This is because resistance heating (which they all are) is 100% efficient. That down not mean they are inexpensive to operate.
